What's the difference?
Globalism has its interests in having a global reach in search of control and making money around the world. Internationalism seeks to accept and understand different cultures around the world. Businesses tend to go global and are seen by some as selfishly trying to make money even at the expense of others while education tends to go for internationalism and is seen by some as helping individuals and societies creating value in society - no bias there.
Being international online
Having worked in Shanghai before I knew that YouTube doesn't work, neither does Twitter and a lot of other things. So I was curious with my YouTube audience saying they were 20% first language Chinese if I was being seen in China. Another report I saw stated that Weibo has double the users of Twitter.
So I went on Youku (China's Youtube) to find Richard Thornley!
Giving Youku a go...
It seems to be someone who took his videos and uploaded them. They don't have a lot of views compared to what he is used to (often under 50) so I'm not sure how useful this site is. So partly out of being internationally minded, and curious to see if this was something that would be watched I've put a video up on Youku (http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTY1MTg0OTYwMA==.html).
To be truly international, as I'm on a Chinese channel, I decided to redo a video and speak Chinese in it instead. If it seems to get a better viewing than YouTube (besides my students just watching it to laugh at my Chinese) I'll do another one. :)
I'm modelling advanced skills in internationalism and risk-taking! :)
